At age 7, he shot his first movie, using his father&#8217;s 16mm camera. In 1947, he made&nbsp;<em>Fireworks<\/em>, now rated as the American equivalent of the films of Genet and Cocteau. The latter urged the young filmmaker to relocate to Paris in the late 1940s. During his 4 years in Paris, Anger made&nbsp;<em>Le jeune homme et la mort,&nbsp;<\/em>written by Cocteau and featuring choreography by Roland Petit. Back in California, Anger made his masterpiece,&nbsp;<em>Scorpio Rising,&nbsp;<\/em>in 1963. In 1975, he released his famous book,&nbsp;<em>Hollywood Babylon.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 1995, he has exhibited his&nbsp;<em>Icons<\/em>&nbsp;in the United States. He brought them to Europe for the first time in 1997, at galerie du jour agn\u00e8s b.
