Mike Lash’s work most often comes in the form of drawings that exude the spirit of comic books and graffiti. In his deliberately rudimentary, derisory style, Mike Lash shows humans doomed to live in an absurd, inhumane world where they have only the darkest humor at their disposal. In his art, Mike Lash uses all sorts of scrap materials. He makes words play and collide, especially when the texts in his drawings and titles are disrupted or in contradiction. In this very somber context, Mike Lash tries to preserve art’s therapeutic and universally symbolic functions.
