Galerie du Jour is pleased to announce its new exhibition presenting the works of two artists: Emil Halmos, Hungarian and Lucien Hervé, of Hungarian origin. Agnès b. wishes here to create a dialogue between two generations of figurative abstraction through the mediums of predilection of the two artists, painting for Emil Halmos and photography for Lucien Hervé. Between mind wandering and familiar silhouettes, the visitor is invited to let himself be transported into the visual world of each artist, sharing this appetence for color and black and white.
« My images fall between figuration and abstraction and sometimes arrive there from opposite directions. What I mean by this is that if, for example, I start with something figurative or recognizable, I usually distort it until it is no longer recognizable.».
Emil Halmos
« Lucien Hervé is one of the rare photographers to combine humanist philosophy and architectural thought. His overhead framing, his oblique views, a certain simplicity and a desire for abstraction characterize a photographic style that is very different from that of his contemporaries.»
