agnès b. presents the sixth season of its collection at the Fab. dedicated to body language.
Body language is part of non-verbal communication, that is to say all the messages that can be conveyed without using words. In this case, the body language is the whole of the demonstrations of the body such as the body attitudes, the glance, a smile, a shrug of shoulder which can convey a direction.
The body in art becomes then subject, object, support, measure and matter, that the artist, to his way, questions, sublimes or turns in derision. It is because he represents his body or that of others that Man has an image of himself and a place in the world.
Through drawings, paintings, sculptures, photographs, films and videos related to the theme of body language, the exhibition observes the social body, the functions, gestures, and behaviors that reveal it, the order and poetry that result, the gentleness, beauty and sometimes the violence of body-to-body, the representation of the body in space, whether it be nature, the city, or the enclosed space.
The language of the body is expressed through the works of some sixty artists, both emblematic and enigmatic, from Peter Hujar to Tracey Emin, via Larry Clark, Malick Sidibé and Niki de Saint Phalle.
