Simon English

Born 1959 in England – Lives and works in London, England

Simon English studied at Crawford and Liverpool colleges of art. Working primarily in painting, drawing and collage, he has shown widely around the world. His art can be found in both private and public collections.

Combining seduction and obsession, Simon English’s practice references poetry, literature and music, alongside allusions to his personal life. The flesh tints and neutral tones temper every conflict between the shadows of characters coming straight out of fairy-tales and the near-grotesque portraits of their flaws and dreams. Looking at Simon English’s paintings forces to face our doubts and uncertainties.
