Around Contemporary Bachelard : a new aesthetic ?

With the participation of the exhibiting artists Félicie D’Estienne d’Orves and Sandrine Estrade – Boulet, and the scientific and editorial advisor of the exhibition (Gilles Hieronimus).

The exhibition Contemporary Bachelard illustrates the remarkable topicality of Bachelardian aesthetics, and invites us to question its singularity, relevance and fecundity afresh. If Bachelard never developed a philosophy of art in the strict sense, his thought outlines – by its subversive and creative dynamism – the lines of force of a renewed aesthetic. Starting from a reflection on the literary image, this aesthetic radiates in the most varied artistic fields: plastic arts in the broad sense (painting, sculpture, engraving…), but also song, music, theater, dance and performance. This forum, organized in partnership between the agnès b. Endowment Fund and the Association Internationale Gaston Bachelard, proposes to question – on the borders of art and philosophy – the meaning and scope of this singular aesthetic.
